Reading about writing for kids

Two great books I've read recently about writing for kids - both have excellent advice for strengthening characters and making the reader care about them.

  • Writing irresistable kidlit: The ultimate guide to crafting fiction for young adult and middle grade readers, by Mary Kole, Writers Digest Books, 2012. I borrowed this book from the library and it was so good I went out and bought it!
  • Writing for Comics and Graphic Novels with Peter David - though I don't plan to write comics or graphic novels, the advice about making both heroes and villians believable is very useful.
